Kelly: Financially Burdened

After being two weeks late on my monthly cycle, I decided to go to the Pregnancy Care Center for a free pregnancy test. At first, I was kind of embarrassed to be asking for something for free, especially something so personal. But it wasn’t surprising to them at the center, it’s something they do all the time. In fact, when my test came out negative, they insisted that I come back in a couple of weeks if I did not start my period. To me, this was great news because I really could not afford to go buy a test off the shelf at the drug store.

So I did go back in two weeks and discovered that I was in fact pregnant. The director was so compassionate with my fears of this pregnancy. We talked in length about my concerns and she helped me to see that most issues could be overcome. One of my fears was not being able to afford all the items necessary to take care of a baby, such as a crib, stroller, clothes, etc. She assured me that they could help with these things, as they have with many other girls.

I left the Pregnancy Care Center with an excitement and joy that I had not entered with. The director was able to answer all my questions and ease my fears. I felt as if she really cared about me. It was exciting to have someone who shared in my joy about being pregnant and be with me as a support throughout the entire process.

Thank you to all of the workers at the Sweet Home Pregnancy Care Center.
