Before I became pregnant my life was very off track. I was doing a lot of destructive things, including taking meth. I was at the point I couldn’t even look into my mother’s eyes anymore. I was too ashamed.
When I found out I was pregnant I was strangely happy. I told myself the only way I would get off drugs was if I had this baby. I was not only responsible for me and my body, but for a whole other human being. From that moment on I knew my life was going to make a 180 degree turn.
I’ve been off drugs for the last 14 months. I’m currently separated from my baby’s father, so that I can finish school and get a good job. I’m getting my GED and job training. I go to church every Sunday. My baby daughter is 6 months old.
The counselor at the The Pregnancy Counseling and Information Center has impacted my life in so many ways. She has helped me emotionally and spiritually as we have worked through the parenting and life skills workbooks. Through the workbooks I have earned a crib, stroller, changing table and clothes for my baby. She helped prepare me to be a mom.
My future goals are to be able to finish getting my GED and job training program and to go to college. I want to be able to support my child and to meet her every needs. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and wish to have more knowledge of the Bible and a closer relationship with Jesus. In the future I hope and pray that I can pass on Jesus to my daughter.
